As we step into October and the final 26 days before the Black Class Action Certification Hearing, I am proud to continue the fight for justice and equality and grateful for the immense show of support from Canadians, of all walks of life, standing with Black Public Service Workers and speaking out against racism in the workplace.
As we move forward in the Black Class Action, we are reminded that this goes far beyond compensation—this is a fight for the validation and dignity of Black Public Service Workers who have faced systemic racism and discrimination for far too long.
From the grandmother of five who worked for 30 years with only one promotion, to the highly qualified father of three who kept the same low-level position within the Canada Revenue Agency (despite his CPA & CMA designation, Bachelor Degree, and MBA degree) and was ultimately hospitalized due to the stress of the CRA’s discriminatory environment; our journey is a collective one and an important one. We are fighting for their futures and their children’s futures and the future of our nation.
Our work goes far beyond a legal battle and truly is an effort for Canada to uphold a moral obligation to ensure that the federal service lives up to our country’s promises of fairness and inclusion.
To everyone standing with us—thank you. Your voices, your courage, and your unwavering support are making an impact. Let’s continue to press on and work together for a future where diversity is truly our strength and make history.
