Honoring Emancipation Day: Join The Black Class Action for Justice and Equality

Betty's Law

Tomorrow, August 1st, is Emancipation Day in Britain and Commonwealth Nations. Emancipation Day commemorates the day slavery was abolished and over 800,000 enslaved people were freed across the British Empire in 1834.

Join The Black Class Action in honouring Emancipation Day by marching along side us as we call on the government to take action against discrimination and anti-Black racism in the federal public service.

We will be marching tomorrow August 1, 2024 at 11:45 a.m. from the Human Rights Monument by Ottawa City Hall to the Privy Council Offices.

As Thurgood Marshall once said, «Where you see wrong or inequality or injustice, speak out, because this is your country. This is your democracy. Make it. Protect it. Pass it on.”
