Canada’s Black Justice Strategy: Addressing Systemic Failures in Our Justice System

I recently had an insightful conversation on Moore in The Morning about the shortfalls of «Canada’s Black Justice Strategy.» We explored the deep-rooted issues within our justice system, from recidivism to the overrepresentation of Black youth in children’s aid and the economic and social challenges faced by Black Canadians. As a former Crown attorney working with the Department of Justice, I recognize that the challenges that the Black community is faced with today are longstanding and systemic. It’s clear that the justice system has failed us, and the solution lies in comprehensive reform to guarantee equal rights and fair treatment for all Canadians.
